Welcome back to Term 3.
SCHOLARSHIP – YEAR 13 STUDENTS
Applications are now open for The University of Auckland – school leaves scholarship. Students need to go to the university website and apply. Closing date is 23 August, 2016.
CAREERS INFORMATION
The University of Auckland courses and careers open day is on Saturday 27th August from 9.00am – 3.30pm at Auckland City Campus. Go to the website: www.courseandcareersday.ac.nz to register for free buses and check out for full programme. Other important dates for The University of Auckland:
2nd August and10th August – Engineering Future Evening.
8th December – Applications close for majority of degree programmes.
SECONDARY SCHOOL ISLAMIC WEEK
Secondary school Islamic week is from 25th – 29th July
Programme:
Tuesday – Quran competition
Wedenesday – Quiz and debate
Thursday – Nasheed competition
Friday – Speech competition
Secondary students will have mufti day on Friday 29th July. All students must dress up appropriately. Students can bring a plate to share with their class.
REMINDER: PARENT/TEACHER MEETING
Parent teacher meeting is on 4th August, 2016. It will be a whole day affair. Parents must come with their child/children for the meeting. There will be no classes for the students. Year’s 1-8 teachers will share students portfolio and exercise books. Years 9 – 13 teachers will share mid-year report. The booking website will be activated from today. NCEA MOCK EXAMINATION
NCEA mock examination will take place from Thursday of week 8 and will continue till Friday
of week 9 of this term (15/9 – 23/9). Students are not to take early term break for travelling purposes otherwise they will miss out on important exams. The mock exam grades are important to decide end of year awards and are used for derived grades in case of students non-attendance of final examination due to valid reasons.
SECONDARY GIRLS DRAMA
The rehearsals for the production at Mangere Arts Centre will be held on the following days and times:
Monday 8th August and Tuesday 9th August from 10.30am to 1.00pm.
Monday 15th August 12.30pm – 3.00pm
Tuesday 16th August 9.00am to 12noon
Final day rehearsal and actual performance Wednesday 17th August – full day.
FUNDRAISING
Years 7 and 8 girls are doing fundraising for the production on Wednesday 3rd of August (next week). They will be selling chicken croissant sandwich and chips for secondary boys and girls for $5. They will also sell chicken long rolls for $3.50 to primary students. Orders will be taken till Thursday 28th of July.
NCEA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FORM
NCEA fees financial assistance forms are due on Thursday 28/07/16. Invoices will be given to students on 29/07/2016.
MATHS ROAD SHOW
Maths Road Show for years 1 – 6 is on 27th and 28th July. Each student needs to pay $5.00 for the Road Show. Special letter has been given by the class teacher with more details.
