Principal’s Message

School started in 1992 where all 9 kids from years 1 – 8 were taught as a single composite class and today we are at our maximum roll of 550 students which are divided into different year levels and subjects.  As the school is now heading towards a major roll increase and hence a review of staffing is being carried out to ensure that we have a robust management system.  To handle the increase in the school roll which we hope will go to 1000 students.  In Sha’a Allah we will let the community know the outcome of the review.

Learner Licence

Alhamdulillah 28 students including boys and girls have successfully obtained their drivers licence from the course provided at our school. Jazaakallahu khairan to the teachers who made this possible.

School Production – Tickets are available NOW!

Al-Madinah School Secondary Boys’ production, The Jewel Thief, will be on 29th August at Mangere Arts Centre from 6.30 to 9.30pm.

Tickets are on sale now at $10 each from the school. There will be refreshments, including palau, on sale on the night.  Please kindly note that this will be a male only event and children only who are 10 and over.

Senior Boys Soccer – Final

Al- Madinah Secondary Boys team finished the Round Robin season as the winners. To claim a promotion to the next division the Senior Boys will be playing against Alfriston School tomorrow at the House Park.  Requesting parents to come and support the team in their final match. Kick off at 4pm.

Science Education Program

Science education program for years 4-6 students by the AI ACADEMY on Thursday, 15th August at the school.

Teacher Only Day (TOD)

The school will be closed for students on 4th November for TOD. This is a day allocated by the Ministry with the implementation of the new curriculum.

REMINDERS

Absence Notification – NEW

Students are legally required to attend school every day. Please remember to notify the OFFICE of any absence by emailing on absences@al-madinah.school.nz.  Emailing the class teacher is optional, however, the office should be notified.

NCEA external exams supervisor vacancy

Al-Madinah School is seeking supervisors to help with the supervision of NCEA and scholarship examinations from 05/11/24 to 29/11/24. The smooth and successful running of examinations is important for all students participating in these examinations. Supervisors must ensure that the candidates comply with all NZQA instructions.

A high level of organisational skills with great attention to details, strength in following processes precisely, ability to work well with young adults, high level of digital literacy and proficiency in using a computer are essential qualities for this role.

The position requires you to complete a training programme with the exam centre manager in September/October. There may be an additional training day in for managing digital exams.

The position requires you to complete several administrative tasks to plan and prepare for the exams. You must be available to work for the entire exam period (Tuesday 05 November to Friday 29 November).
