Welcome back to Term 4. Hope you all had a good break.
STUDY BREAK
Study break for years 11-13 (NCEA) students start on Wednesday 01st November 2023. Students must use the time to prepare/study for external exams.
READING TOGETHER PROGRAM
Al-Madinah School will be conducting another round of Reading Together Program which aims to help parents and whanau to support and be active participants in their children’s reading at home. The programme is based on a short series of workshops, offering simple strategies to make reading a pleasure rather than a time of anxiety and stress. In addition to the reading aspect of the programme, it also supports effective social development and enhancing relationship between children and parents, parents & teachers as well as families and librarians.
Dates of workshops: Mon 16/10/23, Tues 24/10/23, Mon 30/10/23 and Mon 06/11/23. Time and venue: 2:00pm at AMS Library. For registration, please email Sr Nadia on Nadial@al-madinah.school.nz as spaces are limited.
VACANCY
- Assistant Principal (AP): as Ustadha Farzana Bano is moving overseas, her position as AP has been advertised. Please apply in writing to the principal via email: principal@al-madinah.school.nz. Application closes on Mon 16th Oct 2023.
- Teacher Aide – an Arabic and English-speaking person is needed to assist an Arabic speaking student.
END OF YEAR EXAMINATION (EOY)
End of Year Examination for years 7 – 10 will be in week 5 from November 6th – 10th.
TEACHER ONLY DAY (TOD)
TOD for NZC Refreshed Curriculum will be held on Tuesday 14 November 2023. In addition to having a special PLD on NZC, all teachers will be attending a special meeting at Bader Intermediate School from 12.30pm to 4.00pm hence the school will be closed for all students.
REMINDERS:
ZUHAR/JUMU’AH SALAH TIME AT AMS
Mon – Thurs 1.40pm – 2.00pm
Fridays – Jumu’ah from 1.40pm – 2.15pm
Parents/caregivers are advised NOT to pick-up their child/children during the above times. If there is any urgent appointment during these timing, please pick them up before salah.

18/10/23: NCEA DCAT
31/10/23: Year 10 – NCEA corequisite reading.
01/11/23: NCEA corequisite writing.
02/11/23: NCEA corequisite numeracy.
06/11/23 to 28/11/23: NCEA and
scholarship external exams
06/12/2023: Primary Award Assembly
07/12//2023: Secondary Award Assembly
